What is a fixer, anyway?

The term “fixer” came from journalism. Foreign correspondents in an unfamiliar place would hire a helper to arrange parts of their story or interview. Fixers would take care of all the details: translation, transportation, accommodation, and so on. Their local knowledge often proved vital to the journalist’s piece.

“Fixing” eventually made its way to the film and television industry. These days, a fixer is anyone who provides support and helps to coordinate film projects. And at NEEDaFIXER, we’re all fixers because we FIX amazing projects and bring stories to life.
